Two hundred sixty-two golfers met at Chateau Élan Golf Course on Sunday August 29, for a sunny day of golf, prizes and fun. For the tenth year in a row, Jim Ellis Automotive Group organized the tournament to raise money for local children's charities. This was a record-setting year in terms of sponsorships! The golf tournament had a total of seven Platinum sponsors: Manheim Auto Auctions, Dickey Broadcasting, Audi of America, Porsche Cars North America, VW of America, Jim Moran & Associates, and Finishmaster. There were also six Gold sponsors and twenty Silver sponsors, earning more money for charity than ever before!
Retired Braves player (and Jim Ellis Audi customer!) Tom Glavine helped kick off the tournament in the morning, and donated the three best auction items - an autographed baseball bat, an autographed Braves jersey, and a signed baseball. Other auction items included everything from jewelry, to NFL & College football tickets, Hockey tickets, Cirque du Soleil tickets, DVD players, and more!
John Kincade, the announcer from 680 the Fan Radio helped the team give out awards and raffle prizes.
To accommodate the large number of golfers, the tournament was run on two separate courses. The winning team on the Chateau Course was from our own Jim Ellis Mazda Marietta dealership! Congratulations to Chuck Wallace, Tony Schuble, Brad Cullen and Allen Fissette. The winning team on the Woodlands Course was from Silver sponsor Autotrader.com and included Tim Weber, Joe Powers, Blake Brewer, Jonathon Bennett. Congratulations, gentlemen!
The funds raised are donated near the holidays to various local children's charities that are voted upon by the Jim Ellis employees. We will provide the actual dollar amount, as well as the chosen Atlanta-area charities as the end of the year approaches.
