Chevrolet Sonic Revealed For U.S. Buyers

Chevrolet released its 2012 Chevrolet Sonic photos and specs to the American public that will put Chevy back in the running for the sub-compact car genre. The 1.4L turbo engine rated at 138 horsepower is 18HP more than the Ford Fiesta offers.  It's the same engine as was used in the Chevrolet Cruze, but smaller and lighter.

The transmission can be either 5 speed manual or 6 speed automatic. The most impressive is that the handling was engineered by the Corvette team which means that it's going to be a super smooth ride with standard electronic power steering and the Stabilitrak electronic stability control.  It will be offered in both sedan and hatchback models and both of which have more back seat room than the Ford Fiesta.  The sedan has the most trunk space in the segment and with rear seats that fold flat, the hatchback offers more storage room than the Fiesta.

The Chevrolet Sonic also offers remote start, heated front seats, and even a sunroof which is very unusual for this segment. Not to mention the massive amount of safety features like 10 airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist and OnStar.

The pricing looks to be around $15,000 and we are itching to get behind the wheel. But for now, Orion Township in  Michigan will start seeing these models as early as next month.
