Mazda North American Operations reported their December sales recently and the Japanese powerhouse sold more than 29,000 vehicles in December 2015, which is an 18.1 percent increase from the previous year’s December sales. This past December was the best as far as sales since 1994, and Mazda has been making significant changes in its current lineup, which has increased dealership traffic over the last few years.

Mazda sold just over 290,000 vehicles in 2014. The brand reported more than 319,000 vehicles sold last year, which was upwards of 4.4 percent over 2014 and the best year in over 20 years. Mazda experienced a series of successful events in 2014 including its best-combined fleet and retail year. The Mazda CX-5 experienced a great December with 11,417 vehicles sold, which is up 47.9 percent since December 2014, according to the Mazda website. Calendar Year 2015 was a momentous year for the CX-5 as the model eclipsed more than 100,000 sales and became the best-selling Mazda in the United States in 2015.

The 2016 MX-5 Miata rounded out the year with its best December since 2007 with more than 700 vehicles sold, which topped out at 86.6 percent YOY. The Mazda3 and the Mazda6 both had its best December last year as well. Mazda’s sixth-generation lineup soared across the charts and the brand’s popular SKYACTIV technology topped the charts as well. Mazda’s SKYACTIV technology was sold in more than 94 percent of Mazda vehicles.
