
We are truly excited to recognize Kim South as the September 2024 Jim Ellis Client Champion! Kim is a service BDC agent at Jim Ellis Buick GMC Mall of Georgia. Kim was nominated by Service Manager Nick Rose.
The Jim Ellis Client Champion award has been presented monthly since 2014 to a Jim Ellis team member who goes above and beyond to deliver the Jim Ellis Promise to one of our guests. With more than 1,700 team members in the organization, only a small percentage of team members each year receive this honor.
Here is the story behind why Kim was nominated as the monthly Client Champion:
A customer called in looking to make a service appointment for one of his business vehicles. He let Kim know that he usually is able to get a loaner vehicle from Brett at our Fleet department to use while his car is being serviced. However, the conversation took a turn when the customer told her that his wife was battling stage 4 cancer and was currently in the ICU. Hearing the pain in his voice, it was clear he was struggling under the weight of managing two businesses while caring for two small children.
Feeling a deep sense of empathy, Kim assured him that she would coordinate with Brett and get back to him. Brett shared that the loaner typically provided was out of commission due to an accident. He also mentioned the severity of the customer’s wife’s condition, which gave Kim a greater sense of urgency to find him a vehicle. After arranging a solution in-house, Kim called the customer back to confirm both appointments. He was relieved and repeatedly expressed his gratitude.
Moved by the kind customer’s situation, Kim wanted to offer something more personal. She went out of her way to purchase flowers and a card to show her support and let him know that he was part of the Jim Ellis family. When the customer arrived to collect the flowers and card, he was touched and at a loss for words.
